Mechanical Design Engineer (Hybrid)

Job Description
As a Mechanical Design Engineer at our client Beam, you will be helping them get ready to launch their first concept with a close-knit team. We are looking for a passionate, growth-oriented person that's as comfortable working on CAD as they are prototyping in the shop. This person must thrive in ambiguity, be excited to wear many hats, and do what is needed to ship a revolutionary product. You will work directly with one of the founders who leads product and engineering.
Responsibilities
• Mechanical design lead for Beam's upcoming product
• Driving innovation and making hard tradeoffs between customer and user experience, performance, cost, and other constraints
• Develop specifications, working drawings, instructions and other related documents
• Support purchasing efforts to source components and services by obtaining or developing necessary technical specifications
• Participate in vendor qualification as necessary
• Collaborating with other members of the product development and customer team at Beam
• Setting a high bar for excellence, and creating an inclusive environment
• Passion for electrification and automation
• Ability to inspire, create a strong culture, and recruit top talent
• Experience with Designing for thermal considerations
• Reliability and test engineering experiences
• Experience working with partners and suppliers in Asia
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5-7 years experience developing and shipping hardware products (ideally consumer products)
• Product-obsessed and genuine passion around building things that people can touch and feel
• Experience working on 0 to 1 first products
• Strong experience with Solidworks or equivalent CAD packages
