As the Strategic Sourcing/Procurement Specialist at Chandler, you'll collaborate across various teams and serve as a hands-on problem solver. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing the outsourcing program, crafting and executing an import strategy, and driving margin improvements through the procurement function. You will also work closely with the estimating team to ensure supplier capabilities align with company projects. This role will be crucial in maintaining cost-effective supplier relationships and driving the overall success of our sourcing initiatives company wide.


A Strategic Sourcing/Procurement Specialist at Chandler is responsible for:


Develop Import Strategy

  • Evaluate existing import program and develop and execute the Import Strategy.
  • Identify potential markets for importing based on demand, competition, and regulatory considerations. Analyze trends and forecasts to gauge market viability.
  • Research and select suppliers based on core capabilities, quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness, lead time, and compliance with import regulations. Establish relationships and negotiate terms.
  • Develop efficient logistics processes to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective transportation of goods, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Understand import regulations, tariffs, and customs procedures to ensure compliance and minimize risks. Implement strategies to mitigate geopolitical and economic risks.
  • Forecast costs associated with imports, including procurement, shipping, customs duties, warehouse management, fulfillment, and storage.
  • Ensure all import documentation, such as licenses, permits, contracts, and customs declarations, are in order and comply with international trade laws.
  • Monitor the performance of the import strategy regularly. Seek feedback from stakeholders and adjust strategies based on market changes and business objectives.
  • International and Domestic travel required.


Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

  • Develop a sourcing and procurement strategy that aligns with the organization's overall business goals.
  • Implement company sourcing plan and establish performance metrics.
  • Direct and guide the buyer in executing efficient sourcing strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including estimating, project management, engineering, and production to identify project material requirements, pricing, and plan for sourcing components.
  • Investigate potential suppliers aligning Chandler’s business strategy with supplier core capabilities, pricing, lead times and quality.
  • Engage in negotiations with selected suppliers to achieve favorable terms.
  • Draft and finalize contracts that outline responsibilities, pricing, delivery schedules, and service levels.
  • Regularly review and assess sourcing strategies and supplier performance. Seek opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency gains, and innovation.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of supplier relationships based on overall impact on Chandler business strategy.


To be a successful Strategic Sourcing/Procurement Specialist at Chandler, you will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, such as customer service, sales support, or project coordination
  • Strong ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with project management software and methodologies (preferred)
