STV has immediate openings for a Geotechnical & Tunnel Engineering Specialist for our Geotechnical department at our New York City office.
Key responsibilities will include:
Performing design of tunnels, earth retention systems, rock and soil slopes, and deep foundations.
Designing rock and soil tunnel initial support using numerical and empirical methods.
Developing and implementing geotechnical subsurface exploration plans.
Preparing geotechnical data reports, geotechnical interpretive reports, geotechnical baseline reports, and geotechnical design reports.
Interpreting geology, geotechnical and hydrologic conditions and understanding their impact on design and construction.
Assisting in the preparation of proposals.
Required Experience:
Project work will include heavy civil underground structures such as cut-and-cover and mined tunnels, caverns, shafts, and underground structures such as substations and treatment facilities throughout the United States and Canada.
Engineering-In-Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
Prior experience with PLAXIS 2D and 3D and ITASCA software (FLAC 2D and UDEC) is highly preferred but not required.
Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related disciplines is preferred but not required.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience in rock and soil logging, rock tunnel mapping, and subsurface investigations is preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Compensation Range:
$64,044.00 - $85,392.00
