About This Role:

The Furniture Production Manager will play an integral role in growing our Jenni Kayne Home and Furniture business. As we work to establish ourselves as a key player in the home space, we are looking for a candidate with deep experience managing the day-to-day aspects of furniture production with a proven track record for delivering consistent, quality product. The Furniture Production Manager will leverage existing relationships with furniture vendors to help us continue to diversify our manufacturer base to set us up for further scale. The ideal candidate will have experience working cross functionally with many different teams at all levels and will proactively communicate with stakeholders to ensure all areas of the business are aware of key dates and issues that arise throughout the production cycle.

Role and Responsibilities:

As the Jenni Kayne Furniture Production Manager , your primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Confirm materials, color standards, and technical details for each style with Design at Handover
  • Approve final samples with Design
  • Ability to source for new product requests in keeping with brand integrity, quality, and margin
  • Source new materials/trims as needed
  • Conduct market research to stay ahead of trends in the home space
  • Visit domestic and overseas factories/vendors as needed
  • Responsible for all aspects of production including managing to margin targets, factory allocation, quality, and maintaining production timelines
  • Manage PO creation, item set-up, delivery/cost updates in Netsuite
  • Work with vendors to ensure on-time delivery of raw materials and production
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors
  • Hold vendors accountable to mutually agreeable solutions when delays and quality issues occur
  • Execution of factory compliance program – social compliance audits, product testing, QC inspections
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure samples are in hand in time for key marketing shoots, events, etc.
  • Coordinate shipping schedule/logistics for incoming production orders and proactively communicate such with the Buying and Operations teams
  • Manage quality control procedures and all QC/aftercare customer issues. Take ownership of the entire process and communicate required action steps and resolutions to the wider Jenni Kayne team
  • Work cross functionally with all teams at Jenni Kayne, including but not limited to Buying, Operations, Retail, Delivery Experience, Marketing and Ecommerce to provide proactive communication around delivery timelines and quality issues.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in furniture development & production
  • Comprehensive understanding of furniture construction
  • Comprehensive knowledge of standard industry tolerances & practices
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing projects or initiatives
  • Strong understanding of prototyping, development practices & processes
  • Hands on experience with sourcing, new vendor on-boarding, customer/product testing/durability, proto sampling, quality control
  • Must have strong knowledge of retail math: margin, cost optimizations, forecasting techniques, operational systems, and contract negotiation techniques
  • Must be an analytical thinker with the ability & drive to improve processes
  • Must have excellent oral & written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate strategies across all channels and levels
  • Able to work independently
  • The ability to organize & prioritize workload to meet deadlines is essential while being flexible and adaptive to changing priorities

  • Team player, collaborative, results driven and respectful
  • Quick learner with excellent attention to detail
  • Comprehensive knowledge of technical systems such as ERP (preferably Netsuite), Microsoft Office, Asana, etc.

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to move and lift heavy objects (20 pounds or more) from time to time as required

The base salary is determined by experience, education, skills, and location.
