Sponsored Products DP Experience and Market place org is looking for a strong Applied Scientist who can delight our customers by continually learning and inventing. Our ideal candidate is an experienced Applied Scientist who has a track-record of performing deep analysis and is passionate about applying advanced ML and statistical techniques to solve real-world, ambiguous and complex challenges to optimize and improve the product performance, and who is motivated to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. As an Applied Scientist in the Blended Widgets team, you will:

  1. Conduct hands-on data analysis, and run regular A/B experiments, gather data, perform statistical analysis and deep dive, and communicate the impact to senior management.
  2. Rapidly design, prototype and test many possible hypotheses in a high-ambiguity environment, making use of both quantitative analysis and business judgment.
  3. Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large-scale data analysis, machine-learning model development, model validation and serving.
  4. Collaborate with software engineering teams to integrate successful experimental results into large-scale, highly complex Amazon production systems.
  5. Promote the culture of experimentation and applied science at Amazon.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of building models for business application experience.
  • PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience.
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
  • Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience using Unix/Linux.
  • Experience in professional software development.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
