Postdoctoral Positions in Evolution: The Martin Fish Speciation Lab at the University of California, Berkeley, is inviting applications for two postdoctoral positions in the Department of Integrative Biology and the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology. The positions involve conducting genomic, functional, and developmental studies on adaptive phenotypes in a radiation of trophic specialist pupfishes. The research will focus on understanding the rare origins of adaptive radiation and the evolution of novel niches in Caribbean environments.

Minimum Requirements:

Job Description:

  • Multi-year positions with an initial 24-month appointment and the possibility of renewal for three more years.
  • Opportunities for fieldwork in Mexico (previous experience not required).
  • Research funded by NIH NIDCR R01 and NSF CAREER grants.
  • Potential projects include genomic characterization of adaptive variants, validation of variants through developmental approaches, and connecting adaptive variants to craniofacial morphology and fitness landscapes in the wild.
