About The Clubhouse Network (TCN):
The Clubhouse Network (TCN), headquartered in Nubian Square, Roxbury, is a global community of over 152 Clubhouse locations across 21 countries. Established in partnership with the MIT Media Lab, TCN is dedicated to empowering youth through creative use of technology. We provide vital resources and support, including professional development, access to technology, and innovative tools for community-based Clubhouses worldwide. In addition to this international network, we operate the Flagship Clubhouse in Boston, a creative, out-of-school learning environment that engages teens in meaningful STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) activities, building skills and confidence through mentorship.
Position Overview:
The Mentor Program Manager will manage the IMPACTS (Increasing Mentor Participation and Commitment to Success) grant, overseeing its implementation in participating Clubhouses. This role involves developing training resources, fostering a community of practice, managing grant deliverables, and implementing evaluation tools. The Mentor Program Manager will also serve as the organization's lead on mentoring effectiveness, representing The Clubhouse Network in community forums, conferences, and working to establish best practices in STEM mentoring across the network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the programmatic elements of the Department of Justice IMPACTS grant, ensuring program goals are met and addressing community needs.
- Develop training materials for Clubhouse staff and mentors, including online and in-person resources, to promote mentor effectiveness and a trauma-informed care approach.
- Foster collaboration among Clubhouses, encouraging the exchange of best practices for mentoring and integrating college and career readiness principles.
- Conduct site visits to support Clubhouse staff and address challenges in program implementation.
- Oversee reporting systems and sustain the online community for sharing ideas and data on mentor effectiveness.
- Manage program timetables, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring timely and on-budget execution.
- Develop relationships with professional organizations focused on mentoring and career readiness.
- Represent The Clubhouse Network as a spokesperson on mentoring issues in community forums and conferences.
Competencies/Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with diverse communities.
- Expertise in mentoring models and principles of college and career readiness programs.
- Grant writing and management, particularly with public and private entities.
- Strong project management skills, able to juggle multiple overlapping deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience designing, implementing, and evaluating programs, with the ability to work independently.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a commitment to TCN's mission of social justice and youth development.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of grant program management experience.
- Proven ability to recruit and engage volunteers for long-term commitments.
- Experience managing multi-component projects, staying on time and on budget.
- Experience developing and delivering training materials for youth and mentoring programs.
- Strong commitment to youth development, social justice, and racial equity.
- Experience supporting youth transitions from high school to careers or college.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain stationary for 80% of the time, with occasional movement to different sites.
- Occasionally required to lift office products and supplies (up to 50 lbs) and travel to various meeting locations.
