Job Summary:

Performs various duties within the Micro Market and vending machines including but not limited to functionality and operation of machines, availability of products, money changing machines, and payment kiosk, ensuring maintenance and upkeep of machines as required. Sells general merchandise to customers exercising professional selling techniques and providing service which anticipates and exceeds customer expectations. Operates a motor vehicle throughout the geographical area and on public roads in connection with performance of job duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains Exchange owned machines and Micro markets daily. Inspects and replenishes products including an assortment of various items such as sandwiches, cakes, pies, popcorn, salads, fruits, pastries, sodas, yogurt, and laundry detergent. Ensures adherence to product shelf-life for perishable items, documents the removal of expired food, sanitizes areas, and removes aged foods or other merchandise from machines and micro market.
  2. Greets and engages customers in conversation to provide sales-related assistance and opinions regarding available or sought-after items. Assists customers in selecting merchandise and suggests additional items to complement their selections.
  3. Ensures assigned areas are fully stocked and merchandise is neatly arranged. Communicates with supervisor regarding stock additions, deletions, fast and slow selling merchandise, customer preferences, needs, and problems. Participates in department meetings and actively seeks to exchange ideas regarding improvements in customer service and achievement of sales goals.
  4. Sets up and maintains prices and all Exchange branded visual programs in micro markets and applicable machines. Maintains a current price list for products sold in the micro market.
  5. Ensures the micro market is maintained in a clean and orderly manner, including sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning countertops, and emptying trash cans.
  6. Assists with resetting merchandise in the micro market at least annually to ensure adherence to merchandise standards such as product adjacencies, branding, and placement.
  7. Responsible for laptop, tablet, scanner, handheld, and other electronic devices needed for inventory receiving and ordering within the micro market.
  8. Assists in relocating and installing new machines at locations, cleaning both interior and exterior using appropriate cleaning solutions. Makes settings and adjustments on food dispensing, liquid dispensing, and coin changer units.
  9. Collects money from vending machines, micro market kiosks, or other miscellaneous machines according to an established schedule. Accompanies vending contractors to verify cash taken from vendor-owned machines when required. Ensures all information recorded during machine servicing is collected via computerized handheld devices and manually records counts of products.
  10. Responsible for inventory control in both the vending and micro market systems.
  11. Collects turn-in money bags daily from Cash Handling Clerks, counts and verifies cash receipts, prepares Daily Cash Receipt, and arranges for deposit in accordance with established procedures.
  12. Interacts with customers and coworkers in a friendly and professional manner, adhering to NEX dress code uniform standards.
  13. Becomes knowledgeable regarding merchandise selected including proper setup, use, care, and characteristics of various product price points. Communicates product-related information to customers knowledgeably.
  14. Operates a motor vehicle throughout the geographical area in connection with duties performed. Loads and unloads merchandise by hand or dolly, ensuring protection from damage or bad weather. Prepares and maintains Daily Trip Report of all trips made.
  15. Adheres to or coordinates preventive maintenance schedules with designated NEX personnel. Maintains proper fuel levels and retains all receipts regarding refueling and maintenance. Ensures the vehicle's interior is clean and free of debris.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Regularly lifts and transports moderately heavy objects weighing up to 40 lbs. Occasionally handles heavier items with assistance or with material handling equipment. Regular walking, bending, and reaching are required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed both inside and outside. Incumbent is occasionally exposed to bad weather conditions while loading and unloading the vehicle. Drives in all types of bad weather and is subject to cuts or bruises.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must possess a valid state driver’s license or a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
  2. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle safely.
  3. Must be able to pass appropriate background checks needed for the specific area of responsibility (e.g., Federal DOD Security Clearance).
  4. Must pass the GSA defensive driving course.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

One year of progressive responsible clerical office or retail sales work where the applicant has demonstrated the ability to interact with customers.

OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

Half-year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for each 6 months of general experience requirement.

AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

One year of progressively responsible experience that provides the applicant with knowledge and skills in the fundamentals of retail including retail sales services, vending, store operations, and warehouse.
