Title & Responsibilities
Grassi Advisory Group Inc. seeks a Tax Senior for its Needham, MA location.
Duties: Run client engagements from start-to-finish, including planning, executing, directing and completing tax projects and managing to budget. Review tax returns done by staff and make recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities. Prepare tax returns for more complex individual, trust, partnership, corporate and foreign tax clients. Research and consult on various tax matters. Utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters. Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities. Offer/recommend new tax strategies and determine profitability of potential acquisitions and mergers. Regularly identify areas of tax reductions and savings. Train and mentor associates and interns on tax projects and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews.
Qualifications
Requirements: Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field and 2 years of experience in the position offered, as a Tax Associate or related role.
Full term of required experience must include: Preparing individual, Partnership, S-Corporations, C-Corporation, trust income, and gift tax returns, including U.S. Federal tax forms 1040, 1065, 1120-S, 1120, 1041 and 709; Planning and managing budgets for a variety of tax projects; Assisting high-net-worth clients with all manner of taxation issues and strategy; Conducting tax research on all applicable tax laws, regulations and requirements in various federal and state tax jurisdictions, including Massachusetts state tax laws; Assisting tax and audit teams by researching and preparing tax-related workpapers, as well as gathering supporting tax and audit documents in a timely manner; Mentoring entry-level and intern-level staff by reviewing their assignments, including their prepared tax returns; Assisting clients with their accounting and bookkeeping needs, including utilizing accounting software QuickBooks, advising clients on how to enter transactions and make adjustments; Processing payroll for clients using the Accounting CS Payroll system, and preparing regular payroll tax filings to the IRS and state agencies monthly, quarterly and yearly utilizing payroll tax filing preparation software; AND Utilizing tax preparation and paperless documentation management software, including the CCH Axcess suite of products and Drake Tax Software.
Other Information
Remote work permitted up to 2 days per week from within the Boston metro area. This full-time position (40 hrs./wk.) is eligible for incentives pursuant to the Grassi Advisory Group Inc. Employee Referral Program. Direct applicants only.
