Position Overview: The Activity Director is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive activity program that enhances the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our residents. This role involves creating a vibrant and engaging environment that promotes social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical activity, tailored to the diverse needs and interests of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Planning: Develop and execute a varied schedule of individual and group activities that cater to the interests and abilities of residents. Ensure activities are designed to promote resident engagement and well-being.
  2. Activity Implementation: Lead and facilitate activities such as arts and crafts, games, music sessions, exercise classes, and special events. Encourage resident participation and adapt activities to accommodate different levels of ability.
  3. Resident Engagement: Build strong relationships with residents to understand their preferences and needs. Use this information to tailor activity programs and ensure all residents are included and engaged.
  4. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback. Prepare and submit regular reports on activity outcomes and program effectiveness.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with the nursing and care staff to integrate activity programs with overall care plans. Collaborate with families and community organizations to enhance the activity program.
  6. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe environment and comply with facility policies and regulatory requirements. Address any safety concerns promptly.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy, Leisure Studies, or a related field preferred. Certification in Activity or Recreation Therapy is a plus.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in activity planning and implementation, preferably in a long-term care or senior living setting.
  3. Skills: Strong organizational and leadership skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to create and adapt activities to suit various levels of physical and cognitive abilities.
  4. Personal Attributes: Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic with a genuine interest in enhancing the quality of life for seniors. Creative and proactive in finding new ways to engage residents.
