We're looking for a Full Stack Architect to join the engineering team at Modus.
About You
Experience Level: Architect
You are a hands-on software architecture leader who thrives on both designing scalable systems and writing high-quality code. This role demands not only deep architectural expertise but also a willingness to dive into the codebase, implementing solutions alongside your team. You'll be responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining critical services, contributing to feature development, and progressively migrating systems toward event-driven architecture.
With your strong background in AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, ElastiCache, and CloudFront, you are comfortable working across the full stack. You have expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and Node.JS, with demonstrable experience in building scalable applications using Nest.JS and MongoDB. Your familiarity with GitHub Actions ensures seamless CI/CD pipelines, and you are confident jumping into code reviews, debugging, and writing new features when necessary.
You'll be leading by example, both architecting solutions and actively contributing to the development process. This is not just a theoretical role—you'll be writing, shipping, and ensuring high-quality code every day. You'll also guide the team through technical challenges, ensuring the systems you help build are reliable, performant, and scalable.
Your ability to progressively migrate systems toward an event-driven architecture will be key, and any experience with AWS DocDB, monorepos, or Terraform will help round out your contributions. Familiarity with Angular, Ionic, and Capacitor is a bonus but not required.
A strong understanding of modern JavaScript (ES2019+) is critical. You will be responsible for ensuring that the architecture aligns with the technical roadmap, but you'll also be a hands-on contributor, leading your team in both the strategic and tactical aspects of development.
You love learning and understand that software is an ever-evolving world. You enjoy playing with new tech and exploring areas that you might not have experience with yet. You are self-driven, self-learner willing to share knowledge and participate actively in your community.
Having overlap with your team is critical when working in a global remote team. Modus requires all team members to overlap with EST hours daily. In addition, reliable high speed internet is a must.
