Job Summary:

On this 29-bed Med Surg unit, you will care for adult patients 18 and above who are being treated for COPD, CHF, acute respiratory failure, pneumonia, COVID, cellulitis, orthopedic surgeries, GI complications, and much more.

Nights 6:45 pm - 7:15 am, mostly weekdays and rotating weekends and holidays.

JOB SUMMARY

The Patient Care Technician is responsible for assisting in direct patient care specific to the unit assigned; assisting with patient transfers and repositioning, transporting patients, supplies, or specimens; and any other duties as deemed necessary to ensure optimal patient care and physician service, under the direction and supervision of the professional nurse. The Patient Care Technician is responsible to the Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Charge Nurse, Clinical Supervisor, Department Manager/Director, Nursing Supervisor, Associate Directors of Nursing Services, and the Chief Nursing Officer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides patient care based upon the nursing process in accordance with the hospital's mission & vision, as directed and observed by the RN/LPN.
  2. Ability to work under limited supervision and to follow written and oral instructions.
  3. Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills, empathy, and unconditional positive regard toward all patients and co-workers.
  4. Compliance with organizational requirements, including policies, procedures, and regulations specific to the unit.
  5. Flexibility in schedule in order to meet the needs of the patients, community, and staff.
  6. Maintains annual education requirements prior to due date.
  7. Knowledge and implementation of standardized PPE regarding the prevention/transmission of infectious disease/isolation processes.
  8. Other duties assigned.
