Main Purpose of the Job:
To manage the design, selection, installation and training of Safety Management Program policies and procedures within all ALPLA, NA facilities. Responsible for communication and coordination of all environmental, health, and safety programs within ALPLA, NA. Main Purpose of the Job:
To manage the design, selection, installation and training of Safety Management Program policies and procedures within all ALPLA, NA facilities. Responsible for communication and coordination of all environmental, health, and safety programs within ALPLA, NA. This position will provide technical and administrative direction on all HSE decisions with critical importance to ALPLA's objectives, operations and profitability while maintaining a safe work environment for all associates in all ALPLA, NA facilities.
Main Responsibilities:
- Supervise the work of associates assigned to the Safety department
- Direct the resources and activities of the Safety Management Program to support the HSE programs by providing advice and guidance to ALPLA, NA Senior Leadership
- Maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge and preparedness across the North America region to create a culture that prioritizes effective HSE and balances overall associated costs
- Review internal HSE policies and practices to ensure they are current and appropriate; conduct hazard and risk assessments and change existing, or develop new recommendations from these assessments
- Serve as the North America regional expert within the field of HSE when called upon to address regulatory agency compliance, third party safety & liability issues and work with outside consultants and subcontractors.
- Provide regular written reports, as well as other safety-related results and updates to the Senior Leadership Team
- Assist local teams in investigation of all significant incidents (GL/WC/Recordable Incidents, Near Miss and First Aid) and ensure proper records are completed and Assist in implementation of corrective actions as it relates to the incident and ensure "lessons learned" are communicated throughout ALPLA, NA and are incorporated into the program
- Devise, supervise, and coordinate training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote HSE consciousness
- Assist in the scheduling of safety meetings across all ALPLA, NA locations to review HSE performance and policies
- Address specific reporting and record keeping requirements of OSHA, EPA, etc., as well as other pertinent safety/regulatory compliance matters and to help ensure ALPLA, NA locations are in compliance
- Oversee ALPLA, NA HSE incentive programs and periodically reviews them to ensure they are in compliance with existing regulatory guidelines and that they are accomplishing the desired Make necessary changes to the program to maximize effectiveness
- Conduct site visits and audits as necessary
What Makes You Great
Education/Experience:
- Minimum 4 year degree (Bachelor) in Industrial Technology, Safety, Engineering, or related technical field
- Minimum 10 years' experience in Industrial Safety
- Experience managing project safety
- Advanced knowledge of general industry and industrial practices, regulatory agency requirements and industry standards
- Very good written and oral communication skills. Required to speak effectively before groups of Senior Management, clients, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and a l l associates of ALPLA, NA
- Excellent computer skills required, including experience with Microsoft Office Programs
- Ability to resolve issues quickly with little or no direction from a superior
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format
- Good negotiating skills
- Ability to make good judgments and render good decisions
- Willing and able to travel up to 60% on a regular basis
