About the team

Our CFO Advisory service line is well established and uniquely positioned within the market. We provide a hands-on delivery that focuses on the transformation and improvement of our clients’ financial management, accounting, and financial governance practices.

We work with Boards, CEOs, CFOs, operational leaders, and finance team members across various organisations and sectors, providing advice and support to their business. Your role may include the establishment of a new entity’s corporate/finance function; identification, development, and implementation of improvements to organisations' accounting systems, finance processes, and financial policies; development and delivery of financial and other reporting information (internal and external), and working with senior stakeholders to improve how their team effectively delivers the finance function.

The CFO Advisory team provides client-centric delivery that often sees you working with and as a part of our client’s team, providing unique opportunities to leverage your skills and experience gained from working within public practice.

Current Opportunity – Manager, CFO Advisory

We have an opportunity for a Manager to join our CFO Advisory team in Brisbane. This role will allow you to work with a diverse range of clients and projects across public sector and large commercial organisations, tackling a variety of challenges.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and lead key CFO advisory engagements utilising strong technical and operational skills to deliver problem-led solutions to a variety of clients.
  • Be involved in the development, delivery, and implementation of accounting advice and application.
  • Uplift and optimise client’s finance functions and finance business partnering capabilities, as well as guiding them through transformation projects (across people, process, finance systems, and reporting).
  • Be involved in significant public interest and iconic projects.
  • Support organisations through critical stages of their growth – namely pre, during, and post transactions (acquisitions, external equity, IPO etc.).
  • Lead and support an entity during its establishment including designing and implementing strong financial management controls and governance.
  • Identify and support the development needs of the team providing hands-on mentoring, coaching, and training to challenge, motivate, and further develop our team members.
  • Grow your project management, leadership, networking, and technical skills, with partner-led support and exposure to a range of interesting and challenging projects.
  • Be part of the broader BDO Advisory division success through collaborating with a range of other service lines such as Strategy, Risk, Forensics, and Corporate Finance.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or audit.
  • CA/CPA Qualification.
  • Knowledge of the finance function including systems and processes.
  • Have an inquisitive mind and a desire to work collaboratively within the team and across other teams within the firm.
  • Experience and passion in leading and developing teams.
  • Want to make a difference and add value for our clients.
  • Ability to create bespoke solutions using sound frameworks.
