Our client is an engineering consulting firm specializing in power systems and infrastructure including providing services in transmission, distribution, and substation engineering, focusing on delivering reliable and innovative solutions for their clients. Key responsibilities for this role will include (but not limited to):
- Lead and expand the Distribution Line Design Team through mentoring and hiring new engineers.
- Develop project proposals for estimating and securing new projects.
- Maintain and nurture strong client relationships.
- Review and refine processes and procedures within the Distribution and Transmission Design team.
- Execute comprehensive Distribution line project designs and provide mentorship to team members.
- Collaborate with electrical utilities on upgrading existing sub-transmission lines, including integrating fiber optic technology.
- Design overhead distribution lines, with a preference for candidates experienced in PLS-CADD.
- Conduct field surveys (in-state and out-of-state), assess structure strengths, and ensure compliance with electrical clearances.
- Prepare construction packages, address construction inquiries, and finalize record documents.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Distribution design and a full understanding of the project life cycle.
- Travel up to 15% for field surveys and client meetings.
- Temporarily assume other roles and responsibilities as needed.
Required and desired skillsets, experience and qualifications for this role:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Over 3 years of experience in overhead and underground power line design, with a strong preference for PLS-CADD experience.
- PE license (Civil or Structural) is highly desirable or actively pursuing one.
- Project management skills.
- Valid driver's license for multi-state travel.
- Ability to lead engineering meetings and interface with clients effectively.
- Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
