JOB SUMMARY:
The Family Advocate serves as a vital support resource for families, helping them navigate complex systems and access essential services. This role involves working closely with families to identify their needs, provide guidance, and connect them with community resources. The Family Advocate fosters strong relationships with families, offering emotional support and empowering them to advocate for their own needs.
WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week position. Due to the nature of the work and level of responsibility, this individual maintains a flexible schedule, which may go beyond a regular workweek. May be required to work at any CCAP location.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICIATIONS:

  1. BA Degree in Human Services or related field/experience
  2. Experience working with low-income families
  3. Excellent oral and written communication
  4. Must have valid driver's license
  5. Must have transportation and liability insurance
  6. Provide/maintain all required immunizations and/or vaccinations
  7. Must abide by all Head Start requirements
  8. Complete all required background checks
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Inform parents of the philosophy of parent involvement described in the parent involvement section of the CCAP-Child Development Center Head Start/Pre-K Parent Handbook.
  2. Conduct home visits with families who have been identified as having a need for services, regardless of program, as required for appropriate service delivery.
  3. Schedule a minimum of three home visits per family within the school year.
  4. Travel between sites to support families as needed.
  5. Input all pertinent information into Child Plus, ensuring documentation is completed in a timely manner. Family goals, home visits, contacts, and other needed information should be input.
  6. Assist and support families in crisis situations. Inform manager when appropriate.
  7. Assist in obtaining transportation for enrollees to medical, dental screening and other community resources when necessary.
  8. Immediately report to manager any incident of abuse or neglect.
  9. Implement the Family Partnership Agreement with each family, assist family in developing goals and provide on-going follow-up.
  10. Assist with recruitment of potential enrollees.
  11. Assist with enrollment of families; completing applications and working with the ERSEA Manager or Education Manager to get a family enrolled.
  12. Interact with parents/guardians at drop off and pick up.
  13. Establish strong working relationships with teachers and families.
  14. Investigate and document absences and follow absence policy for children.
  15. Promote parent engagement activities and events to families and participate when appropriate.
  16. Other duties as assigned
