Our client is seeking a Fine Jewelry Appraiser who excels in evaluating the market value of fine jewelry and timepieces. The ideal candidate will possess expert knowledge in jewelry design, precious metals, gemstones, and timepieces, with a strong focus on relationship-based customer service. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Travel between multiple locations and meet with customers to appraise both period and contemporary jewelry and timepieces.
  • Provide accurate descriptions and market valuations for resale, replacement, and insurance purposes, ensuring customers understand the factors driving the valuation.
  • Research, authenticate, and document items, including some plotting and photographing as needed.
  • Offer comparable and reasoned justifications for valuations.
  • Identify potential purchasing opportunities and negotiate fair prices for both the customer and the company.
  • Collaborate with Store Managers to schedule appointments across various locations.
  • Conduct proactive follow-ups with customers as necessary.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS
  • Prior appraisal experience (3 - 5 years) with knowledge of diamonds, colored stones, precious metals, and timepieces.
  • Strong understanding of market values for historical period pieces.
  • Graduate Gemologist (GG) diploma from The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) preferred.
  • Relevant industry certifications, such as NAJA (National Association of Jewelry Appraisers), AGS CGA (Certified Gemologist Appraiser), ASA (American Society of Appraisers), or equivalent, are preferred.
  • Additionally, completion of the USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) course to maintain compliance is highly desirable.

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
  • Location: Onsite (5 days a week)
  • Workday Schedule:
    • Monday thru Friday
    • Core Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm
