Givens has operated in the Hampton Roads area for over 50 years as a leader in warehousing, distribution and transportation services. We are currently seeking to grow our Logistics team and looking for a knowledgeable and experienced logistics professional with a proven track record working in truck brokerage. This person would work with existing key accounts as well as develop and grow new business. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are required as you will use them on a daily basis.
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to handle conflict is a must
Negotiating price with shipper and carriers
Managing daily shipments and resolving issues to ensure customers’ freight is handled timely
Sell and close business from new and existing customers
Professional communication skills with customers and carriers is a must
Entering shipment data and billing in the transport management system
Tracking and Tracing of all shipments
Working closely with various parties within the organization and the customer to ensure the customers’ requirements / billing requirements are met and support the billing process
Help with setting up new carriers nationwide
Coordinating within the department – the account manager, collections department and other parties as necessary
Assisting in other tasks as needed
Ability to multi-task and handle a fast paced environment
Requirements
Experience in logistics, trucking, or truck brokerage
Excellent communication and organizational skills to support fast-paced environment
One year of experience in an office, administrative and customer service responsibilities
Able to lead
Experience with MS Office suite, specifically Excel and TMS is needed with the ability to work with the latest technologies
Proficient computer skills and keyboarding
Basic knowledge of accounting and invoicing
Knowledge of port operations is a plus
