We’re seeking a future team member for the role of VP, Public Engagement Communications to join our Marketing & Communications team. This role can be located in either Pittsburgh, PA or Lake Mary, FL. - (HYBRID Work Model - 3 days in the office).

Role description and opportunities

The Vice President, Public Engagement Communications, will develop strategic communications campaigns to support the firm’s community engagement and local outreach efforts. This individual will develop innovative external and internal communications strategies that ensure consistent brand messaging, support reputation management, and highlight the work that BNY Mellon is doing in several key markets around the globe.

Key Responsibilities Include The Following

  • Lead communications for BNY Mellon’s community engagement programs, working closely with site leaders in key markets.
  • Develop a communications strategy, governance and processes for strategic growth locations to increase their visibility with key regional audiences (community leaders, business organizations, universities and local talent)
  • Engage with reporters in several key locations globally, developing relationships with targeted regional and local media.
  • Utilize a variety of internal and external channels to increase awareness of the firm’s location strategy and community engagement efforts.
  • Coordinate with Internal Communications, Government Affairs, and other internal stakeholders across the firm to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Prepare, brief, and train spokespeople in advance of any engagement to relay effective key messages.
  • Lead writing and messaging development, including press releases, thought leadership, statements, social media copy, talking points and Q&As.
  • Analyze metrics, share insights and adjust plans with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of delivered campaigns.
  • Demonstrate ability to dig deep into BNY Mellon strategy to identify new and creative ways to reach target media and share stories focused on highlighting the firm’s innovation, client-centric approach, and the business outcomes that matter.

A Successful Candidate Should Ideally Have These Qualifications

  • Must have a background in media relations.
  • Must be comfortable presenting to senior leaders.
  • Strong writer and effective storyteller with a knack for distilling complex information into messaging that’s clear, compelling, and concise.
  • Knowledge of digital and social channels/platforms
  • High-functioning, efficient and proactive individual who can handle stressful situations. Effectively prioritizes multiple demands on their time.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in media relations and corporate communications
  • Proven experience with internal and external outreach, social media and collaboration tools is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of work experience required.
