**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatrics Oncology
**Job Specialty:** Pediatrics Oncology
**Job Duration:** 13 Weeks
**Shift:** Night - 11.5 x 3 - 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (Every Other Weekend + 4th Shift Per Month)
**Guaranteed Hours:** 34.5 Hours
**Experience:** Minimum of 2 years in pediatrics hematology/oncology in a hospital setting
**License:** Registered Nurse with current registration
**Certifications:** BLS; ACLS Required, APHON or CPON highly preferred
**Must-Have:** Pediatric experience, APHON certification
**Job Description:**
- Deliver patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship-Centered Care.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs and apply critical thinking skills in patient care management.
- Integrate relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
- Prioritize all aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning after hospital care, and delegating tasks to others as appropriate.
- Educate patients and caregivers, anticipating needs and readiness to learn about their plan of care, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, family, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team.
- Manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing and demonstrate effective allocation of material resources.
- Project a professional image to colleagues and communicate with styles and methods that demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, and empathy.
- Incorporate ethical principles into decision-making for patient and family.
- Encourage and demonstrate a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, lifelong learning, and innovation for self and others.
- Role model the tenets of Relationship Centered Care through key actions like Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, and Purposeful Hourly Rounding.
- Consider patients' values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all aspects of care.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.
- Use evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients' perceptions of care.
- Initiate service recovery for patients and family members who express concerns and escalate as needed.
- Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.
- Demonstrate clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served.
- Implement process improvement strategies based on evidence-based practices.
- Engage in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects and evidence-based practice activities.
- Contribute to quality and safety practices and required compliance measures.
- Implement principles of high reliability to provide a safe environment for patients.
- Utilize institutional information technology by documenting nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.
