What We Do

Disability:IN promotes disability inclusion by heightening awareness, advising corporations, and sharing proven strategies for including people with disabilities in the workplace, supply chain, and marketplace.

Position Summary:

The Vice President of Information and Technology is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of information technology, cyber security, data privacy, and security systems. This role will play a critical role in ensuring the organization’s technology infrastructure is secure, reliable, and supports its mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission and goals, including its global expansion.
  • Work with all departments to understand current systems and identify improvements and enhancements.
  • Conduct technology needs assessments and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish technology priorities and budgets.

Technology Infrastructure:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, cloud networks, and security systems.
  • Manage technology vendors and contracts, including existing Managed Services Provider.
  • Work with Managed Services Provider to oversee the help desk function, ensuring timely and effective support to staff.
  • Work with the Chief Accessibility Officer to ensure accessibility of all current Disability:IN systems and in procurement of new technologies.
  • In coordination with the Vice President of Legal Affairs and General Counsel, address and assume responsibility for technology and security clauses in Corporate Partner contracts.

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage technology projects, including new system implementations, upgrades, and IT initiatives.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring timely and fiscally responsible completion.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Relations team to ensure Salesforce integration is at the forefront of planning new technology projects.

Innovation and Adoption:

  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and trends, including AI.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Promote the adoption of technology throughout the organization.

Artificial Intelligence

  • Create and execute plans for integrating AI to improve and optimize the organization.
  • Support development of and updates to, as well as application of and compliance with, organization AI policies.

Security and Privacy

  • Oversee the development and implementation of robust cybersecurity measures to protect the organization's data, systems, and networks from threats.
  • Collaborate with Vice President of Legal Affairs and General Counsel to ensure compliance with all relevant data privacy and security regulations.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments and develop and implement mitigation plans as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans.
  • Implement and manage data privacy and cybersecurity training plan for Disability:IN team.
  • Manage procurement and renewal of appropriate cybersecurity insurance policy.
  • Perform such other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Work Schedule, Location, and Travel Requirements:

  • Disability:IN is a fully remote organization. All employees are expected to operate independently from their home offices daily.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 2-3 times per year.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10-15 years of experience in a senior IT leadership role within a nonprofit or similar organization.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CIPP.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex IT projects, preferably with a global reach.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity and data privacy best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of networking, server administration, and cloud technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in communicating technical information to non-technical professionals.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Baseline understanding of digital accessibility principles.
  • Understanding of the role of AI and how to leverage it.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with nonprofit-specific IT challenges and solutions.
  • Experience with several of the following:
    • Microsoft 365 and all associated Microsoft products
    • Microsoft Azure
    • Zoom
    • Salesforce
    • Form Assembly

The Vice President of Technology may be required to perform other duties
