Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., producer of YellaWood brand Pressure-Treated Pine, is seeking a Corporate Safety Specialist responsible for conducting safety audits at each location regularly and promoting the safety program for teammates company-wide. This full-time position is based out of Abbeville, Alabama, with travel to other off-site locations.
The Safety Specialist's role is to promote the safety program to the highest level. Using extensive knowledge of OSHA Standards and State and Local Regulations, the Safety Specialist will conduct safety audits, address any immediate hazards, guide the teams, and be proactive in the safety program.

The Safety Specialist's role is to promote the safety program to the highest level. Using extensive knowledge of OSHA Standards and State and Local Regulations, the Safety Specialist will conduct safety audits, address any immediate hazards, guide the teams, and be proactive in the safety program.
Essential Duties:
- Provides leadership to teammates and establishes a safety culture
- Conducts regular safety audits at each location to verify compliance and identify unsafe conditions
- Coordinates action plan to resolve audit findings
- Maintains documentation necessary to comply with the Safety Management Plan, OSHA and other applicable regulations
- Works with plant management to enforce safety policies and procedures that help prevent accidents
- Represents the site in incident investigations and complaints and recommends measures to management to prevent reoccurrences
- Interacts with OSHA and other regulatory agencies regarding citations, accidents, claims, site visits, and audits
- Organizes and conducts safety meetings and safety training at all levels of the organization
- Interacts and communicates with owner and subcontractor safety personnel
- Able to adapt to a flexible, fast-paced, and dynamic work environment
- 4-year college degree (B.A. or B.S.) preferred, and a minimum of 3 years' Environmental Health and/or Industrial Safety experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- OSHA 30, OSHA 511, and/or OSHA 501 Certification(s) preferred
- Understanding of lumber manufacturing environment risks and applicable Health & Safety/OSHA rules
- Must have experience conducting safety audits within heavy manufacturing sites
- Must have experience in assisting in workers compensation claims process
