Communications Systems/DSP Design Engineer

Job Description:

You will be a technical expert in end-to-end fixed point communication systems and DSP System Design Engineering for fiber optic physical transceiver products. Join a team of highly competent system and ASIC designers involved in architecture design, verification, and implementation of advanced signal processing algorithms for the physical layer of high speed data communication networks. The types of algorithms that will be implemented include: PAM/QAM single/multi-carrier transceivers, single/multi-input adaptive equalizers/cancelers, single/multi-dimensioned FEC, digital filters, and interface/integration with analog functions.

Responsibilities include:

1. Develop specification, architecture, and micro-architecture of signal processing and communications algorithms
2. Define and document chip requirements, architecture, verification and lab test plan
3. Bit-exact MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++/Java system modeling and simulation
4. Develop and run system level simulation suites of the transceiver and perform vector matching verification with RTL simulations
5. Lab testing and debug of ASICs
6. Documentation/application note development and customer support

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's + 12+ years of related experience, or Master's + 10+ years of experience, or PhD + 7+ years of experience
2. Knowledge in Communication Theory
3. Knowledge in Digital Signal Processing algorithms
4. Experience in MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, Python, Unix, Linux
5. Experience architecting communications systems for high performance ASIC based products is highly desirable
6. Working knowledge of analog circuit behavior
7. Working knowledge of transmission line theory and s-parameters
8. Good hands-on skills in the lab
9. Hands-on experience debugging optical, copper, or wireless links
10. RTL coding expertise is a plus
11. Good oral and written communication skills

Compensation and Benefits:

The annual base salary range for this position is $127,000- $203,000. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
