The Patient Service Specialist is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service, and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical, and service goals.Hours: 36 hours a week with 3 12 hour shifts any day of the week, including every other weekend and some holidays. The shifts are from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm EST. The shifts are to be determine by the supervisor upon hire. May be asked to cover other clinics as needed.Location: 366 Shrewsbury St. Worcester, MAPrimary Responsibilities:Obtain accurate and updated patient information, such as name, address, insurance informationPerform insurance verification on the date of serviceObtain patient signatures for required documentsUpload a valid Government issued state ID of patient and patient insurance cardsFile and maintain medical recordsConsistently correct registration work queue errorsConfirms and schedule appointmentsAnswer telephone calls promptly and courteouslyPerform referral documentation promptlyWorking daily in the claims edit work queue to correct registration errors for submission to insurance companiesAdhere to the standards identified via Sparq regarding Optum Employee PoliciesWork cohesively with fellow employees to achieve specific team goalsKeep abreast on current medical requirements relevant to their position, which includes maintaining patient confidentiality and abiding by all HIPAA and OSHA requirementsComfortable working in high pace environmentProvide effective communication to patient / family team members and other health care professionals as evidenced by documentation, case conferences, communication notes, and evaluationsNotify clinical staff of schedule changes as they occurComply with administrative policies to ensure quality of careDemonstrate precision and efficiency in scanning documents and monitoring the fax server, retrieving and / or scanning documents and assigning to the appropriate electronic chartParticipate in orientation (scheduling segment) of new field employees and distribute updates and changes as neededPerform other related duties and assignments as requiredComplete new clinical competencies rolled out by the Educational CommitteeCollect co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles and issues receiptsManage cashier box and daily deposits according to company policiesProcess walk-in patients and visitorsAssist coworkers as needed to assure smooth office operation and delivery of excellent service through teamworkDemonstrate respect for patients and ReadyMed staff by presenting a friendly, courteous manner at all times and maintaining patient confidentialityPerforms other duties as assignedWhat are the reasons to consider working for UnitedHealth Group?
