We are looking for motivated people to join our team. We have IMMEDIATE openings for the following positions: Fiber Optical Technician.

Overview:

Install, splice, troubleshoot, conduct and record tests, verify and document installations for inside and outside plant Fiber Optic systems for both new and existing applications. Provide 24×7 emergency response support.

The position is responsible for:

Work with project supervisors to plan installations as required. Install, repair and test fiber cables in a variety of environments (underground, indoor, aerial). Terminate cable utilizing a variety of connectors. Perform testing utilizing OTDRs, Power Meter/Light Sources and VFLs. Record and document testing per customer specifications. Perform daily duties in a safe manner. Always maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers and customers. Uphold quality workmanship surpassing industry standards.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS

Able to read prints and other engineering documentation. Mechanical and fusion splicing experience. Demonstrated understanding of fiber counts and colors. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Computer literacy with MS Office products and testing equipment. Fiber Optic industry construction, maintenance and testing experience. Mechanically inclined and detail oriented. Must have a valid Driver’s License. CDL Class A certification a plus. While performing the duties of this job, the Employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The Employee must be able to work in an outdoor environment year around in all weather conditions. Our company is growing, so flexibility and a willingness to try new things are beneficial. Willingness to work shifts as assigned, including daily overtime and some weekends when necessary. Standing - 6 to 8 hours daily, Walking - 4 to 6 hours daily, Bending/Twisting - 0 to 2 hours daily, Repetitive Motion (grasping, manipulation) - 0 to 2 hours daily. Lifting (weights up to 100 lbs.) – occasionally Lift & Carry (weights of 50 to 60 lbs.) – occasionally Employees may be required to work more than 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings, and weekends as business demands. Applicants are required to pass all company drug testing, submit to a background check, and adhere to all OSHA, state, city/municipality safety requirements and training provided by the company as required.


Qualifications:

·        Valid driver’s license

·        Bilingual English/Spanish and CDL are a plus

·        2 year of fiber installation experience with ability to take direction and learn from experience. • OTDR experience
