Virginia Tech (VT) is recruiting to fill a tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level in cancer research. This new faculty position represents part of a major research initiative by VT located at our new state-of-the-art facility at the Children’s National Research and Innovation Campus in Washington DC (CNRIC - link ) of the Children’s National Hospital (CNH - link ). The faculty member will be part of the Cancer Research Center – DC within Virginia Tech’s Fralin Biomedical Research Institute (FBRI - link ).
Applicants should have an earned doctorate (PhD, MD and/or DVM), postdoctoral research experience, a record of accomplishment of research productivity through high quality publications and some record of past or preferably current extramural funding. The new faculty member will join several teams of VT cancer researchers already in place at the CNRIC as well as cancer and immunology researchers from the Children’s National hospital located at the CNRIC. The successful candidate will primarily be expected to maintain a high-quality, extramurally-funded research program. They will also have the opportunity to participate in some teaching of graduate students and to serve as a research mentor for VT graduate, medical and undergraduate students. The CNRIC is located in Washington, DC sited on the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center campus in a newly renovated research building with advanced facilities, including adjacent teams of researchers from CNH’s genetic medicine research center and rare disease institute. Johnson and Johnson’s J-Lab facility and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority program are also located in the same building.
