The Opportunity
Investment Management (IM) is looking for a highly motivated and engaged Investment Consultant. They must be task-driven and detail-oriented while having clear and concise written and verbal communication skills with the ability to orchestrate multiple simultaneous initiatives. This role requires excellent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills. Day-to-day tasks will include keeping accurate records of all incoming and current statements of work (SOW), procurement services agreements (PSA) for the Investment Management division with a heavy focus on end-of-year renewals. Other duties include new SOWs/PSAs, extensions, purchase orders, employee and contractor onboarding and offboarding, expenses, and contract firm oversight while managing the associated budget.
This position is based in Springfield or Boston with a hybrid schedule.
The Team
The Strategy and Planning team is part of the Investment Management (IM) Strategy and Governance Organization. The Strategy and Governance team drives IM’s strategy forward, optimizing governance and decision-making processes, analyzing and establishing common metrics, processes, and tools, and supporting key internal and external stakeholders in progressing the IM target operating model.
The Impact
- Regularly communicate with internal stakeholders including the line of business, legal, compliance, and data security groups to assess risks specific to each Vendor contact/SOW.
- Support the negotiation process with Procurement and suppliers to produce contracts that adhere to MassMutual contracting standards and meet business objectives.
- Draft and/or redline contracts to ensure that MassMutual is adequately protected from risks.
- Understand the business drivers behind contracts/SOWs and develop an execution plan.
- Work closely with the Procurement team and stakeholders as appropriate.
- Serve as division’s records retention specialist and manage information storage across the division.
- Serve as backup personnel for invoice processing and purchase order setup in MassMutual’s vendor management system, Ariba.
- Support preparation of presentation materials to communicate the team’s overall progress and escalate any risks, issues, and/or decisions where appropriate.
- Support the onboarding and off-boarding activities of employees and contingent resources.
- Assist with employee engagement, team building, event planning, and other organizational functions as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree OR in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, we require 10+ years in equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in:
- Contract evaluation, drafting, and negotiation/redlining.
- Managing supplier engagements and/or engaging with procurement-related functions.
- Project coordination and/or advanced administration.
The Ideal Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience with IT and technology-related contracts including Software as a Service (SaaS), hardware, software licensing, IT professional services, etc.
- Experience working with multiple procurement functions such as supplier and category management.
- Can-do, positive attitude and comfortable working with senior, executive, and external stakeholders.
- Team Player/Relationship Building: Collaborative with strong interpersonal skills.
- Innovation: Continually looks within and beyond their job, anticipating business needs and opportunities.
- Expert knowledge of advanced versions of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Working knowledge of Smartsheet.
- Previous experience working in a financial services/insurance organization.
- Strong knowledge of Excel, Ariba, Concur, SharePoint, and other technology required to support the organization.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written methods.
- High level of attention to detail and time management.
- Collaborative approach, demonstrating openness, and providing assistance as urgent situations or ad-hoc needs arise.
