Position Summary:
The Logistics Specialist makes routing decisions for domestic shipments, book shipments, analyze transportation costs and identify cost savings opportunities, provide service issue solutions, and provide training to vendors and team members.
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:
  • Assign routing to all shipments in TMS ensuring that proper carriers are used, and that freight arrives in time for delivery.
  • Perform duties related to building and scheduling loads and tracking and tracing shipments.
  • Analyze and identify cost savings opportunities regarding domestic shipments.
  • Assist operations and vendors in troubleshooting and resolving any transportation issues.
  • Train team members and vendors on Guitar Center systems and the Guitar Center Enterprise Vendor Routing Guide.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

To join our band, you'll need the following experience:
  • Must have 4 years of relevant work experience in a distribution environment.
  • Must have flexibility to cross train as a backup on all Logistics functions.
  • Must be able to speak and write professionally when dealing with vendors and carriers.
  • Must be able to calculate and compare carrier costs.
  • Must be able to read, write, and perform simple arithmetic.
  • Must have intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite experience, including Excel and Word.
  • Must posses a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and efficiency when entering data.
  • Must be well organized and able to address changing priorities.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to effectively communicate detailed information over the telephone and/or computer system.
  • Must demonstrate a positive attitude, and support for company goals.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of initiative and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must be reliable; able to maintain a strong attendance record.
  • Must be proactive in problem solving; demonstrated initiative with strong sense of urgency and teamwork.
