The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Southcoast Region Support Services is looking for a Budget Analyst 1 in Juneau to help us Keep Alaska Moving!


What you will be doing:

As a budget analyst, this position plays a crucial role in assisting the Regional Director, Deputy Regional Director, and Administrative Operations Manager in the Southcoast Region with budget analysis and reporting. The budget analyst is responsible for serving as the contact for development and reporting of the region’s key performance initiatives, and for working directly with managers to coordinate monthly and quarterly reporting activities.


Who we are looking for:

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the core competencies of:

  • Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations.
  • Accounting Operations: Knowledge of general ledger accounting and reconciliation techniques, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and accountability.
  • Adaptability: Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands in a changing environment.
  • Auditing: Knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and procedures for conducting financial audits.
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of technical level experience in accounting, budget, finance, or similar field. This includes work such as Accounting Technician 1 and 2, Administrative Assistant 1 and 2, or equivalent roles.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, statistics, or a closely related field will substitute for the required experience.
