Job Overview

Overall management responsibility for the operation of multiple hotels including profitability, guest service, product quality, and overall cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel property. Operation of the hotels will be within the framework of approved: 1) annual budget, 2) annual marketing plan, 3) annual capital expenditure plan, and 4) annual wage plan, always adhering to Company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist the General Managers and the Executive Committees utilizing a participative style: be readily available and effectively communicate with each member.
  2. Assist the property General Manager to coordinate the operation of each department and special projects, identifying problems and solutions.
  3. Guide the General Managers in dealing with the hotel's problems and opportunities to best serve the financial interests of the property.
  4. Educate and assist in the development of the annual operating budget, serving as an operating plan and defining required levels of achievement.
  5. Ensure achievement of annual budget in revenues, costs, and profits through accounting diligence and expenditure controls.
  6. Educate, assist, and review monthly forecasting of operating staff and cost expenditures.
  7. Consult on performance appraisal and personal development plans for management staff.
  8. Assist General Manager in identifying substandard performance of individual managers and outline improvement actions.
  9. Assist General Manager in assuring the level of experience, knowledge, and ability to meet job requirements of all hotel management.
  10. Consult and assist with the development of annual sales and marketing plans.

Qualifications

Education/Formal Training: A four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience.

Experience: Previous experience as General Manager or Assistant General Manager at a similar size and type of hotel, or previous experience as Department Head at the same facility.

Knowledge/Skills: Requires advanced knowledge of the hospitality and business management fields, and the ability to make decisions with general policies and procedures for guidance.

Physical Demands: Must have vision ability to visually inspect hotel, mobility to walk through the hotel, and physically able to regularly inspect all areas of the facility.
