JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Regional Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations, budgeting, and reporting for multiple hotels within a designated region. This senior-level role ensures that all financial procedures are executed efficiently, in compliance with company policies, and in alignment with regulatory requirements. The Senior Regional Controller provides strategic support to the senior leaders in the accounting department related to financial leadership, driving performance, and ensuring the financial integrity of the region's properties. The role involves partnering closely with property General Managers, Accounting teams, and Corporate leadership to enhance profitability and maintain financial health.
Primary duties consist of performing office or non-manual work directly related to management or general business operations. Work includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Leads and supervises financial operations for all hotels within the region, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
- Prepares consolidated financial statements for the region, including profit and loss (P&L) statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analyses.
- Supports Accounting team with monthly bank reconciliations as needed including month-end tie out.
- Responsible for analysis and review of internal reporting for month close for all hotels within ERP and other systems to ensure accuracy.
- Compiles and sends all owner reporting for company hotel portfolio by each monthly deadline.
- Develops and manages the annual budget process for all properties in the region.
- Monitors performance against budgets and forecasts, providing analysis and recommendations to optimize financial outcomes.
- Supports hotel management teams in identifying areas for cost savings and revenue generation.
- Reviews and analyzes budget and forecast for executive team members to offer monthly and annual guidance in forecasting and budgeting for hotels.
- Ensures compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, and controls.
- Oversees audits (internal and external) and implements corrective measures as needed. Conducts and/or supports all hotel audits including third party tax audits, internal financial control audits, and third party owner audits for all hotels.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Conducts financial analysis to support decision-making, including return on investment (ROI) analysis for new projects, cost-benefit evaluations, and pricing strategies.
- Works with hotel management teams to develop strategic initiatives and improve financial performance.
- Manages and mentors property-level Accounting teams, providing guidance on accounting practices and financial reporting.
- Ensures property-level teams are trained on the latest financial tools and systems.
- Fosters a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Collaborates with hotel General Managers and Corporate Finance teams to provide insights into financial performance.
- Serves as the point of contact between regional hotels and corporate finance regarding financial matters, ensuring alignment of financial goals.
- Acts as a financial business partner, advising hotel operations on financial issues, trends, and improvements.
- Proactively builds and maintains strong relationships with hotel owners, serving as a trusted financial advisor and ensuring their interests are prioritized in all decision-making processes.
- Provides transparent, detailed financial reporting, addressing owner inquiries promptly, and collaborating closely to align operational strategies with ownership objectives.
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of ownership goals, anticipates their needs, and delivers solutions that enhance property performance while fostering long-term trust and satisfaction.

EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent in related field.
EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or a minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in a related field required.
- No supervisory experience required.
