Essential Functions:
  • Facilitate communication between patients and providers during care.
  • Prepare patients for visits, including rooming, obtaining vitals, and preparing supplies for procedures.
  • Assist in the application and removal of casts, staples, and sutures.
  • Maintain exam room standards, ensuring cleanliness and proper stocking.
  • Monitor biohazard and sharps containers.
  • Support providers in preparing patient prescriptions and completing necessary forms.
  • Respond to voicemails within 24 business hours and document actions in the EMR system.
  • Prepare electronic charts ahead of service dates.
  • Perform laboratory tests as needed and manage medical supply inventory.
  • Ensure outstanding test results are recorded and confirm patient appropriateness for visits.
  • Educate patients on medical treatments and therapies as directed by providers.
  • Create a positive patient experience while maintaining a HIPAA-compliant environment.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED required; graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience preferred.
  • Must pass the MA competency exam within the first 24 months of employment.
  • At least one active certification (e.g., RMA, CMA, CCMA, NCMA) required within the first 24 months.
  • BLS certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures, insurance, EMR, and scheduling software.
  • Knowledge of patient confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and medical records procedures.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to work with medical software.
  • Excellent planning, prioritization, and task completion skills.
  • Compassionate approach when interacting with patients and their families.
