Apex Dermatology & Skin Surgery Center is a rapidly growing, skincare facility that empowers employees to deliver exceptional patient experiences. We are currently looking for a talented candidate for the role of Patient Care Center Representative. The Patient Care Center Representative will answer incoming phone calls in our Call Center and assist our patients and other visitors. Your primary job duties will include greeting and answering questions, collecting patient information, processing paperwork, and scheduling appointments. You will also help keep our records and work areas clean and organized. Ideal candidate can work as a team member, is well-organized with attention to detail and personable.

This is a full-time, entry level, hourly, position. This position requires legal authorization to work in the US.

Pay: $16hr - 19hr

Essential Functions

  • No assigned supervisory responsibilities
  • Answers the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette.
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating PHI and financial information accurately.
  • Facilitates the revenue cycle process by entering insurance information and collecting payments.
  • Verifies insurance using Optum/Availity/EMR IE verification process.
  • Maintains an efficient schedule/scrubbing the schedule/ works the no show and cancellation list.
  • Travel may be required due to need of position.
  • Receives incoming phone calls for clinic appointments from patients
  • Answers phones and direct calls to appropriate staff
  • Responsible for the complete and accurate processing of appointment scheduling, pre-registration, eligibility screening, insurance verification, pre-authorization, and financial counseling.
  • Responsible for scheduling, updating and canceling of patient clinic appointments
  • Transmit correspondence or medical records appropriately
  • Ensures complete and accurate patient registration
  • Greet visitors, ascertain purpose of visit and direct them to the appropriate staff

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to Multi-task
  • Knowledge of principals encompassing great customer service and ways to actively help patients
  • Computer literacy – Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Familiar with Medical scheduling software
  • Attention to Detail
  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Strong Math Skills
  • Experience Scheduling patient appointments using medical software

Preferred

  • BA/BS/AD in relevant field
  • 1-3 years of experience in a medical call center
  • 1-year experience in dermatological field
  • 2 years’ experience of medical and insurance coding
  • 1 year experience of record-keeping

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
