General Description of the Position
The Grants Administrator works closely with the Il-IBR Center Administrative and CED Cores. The grants administrator has primary responsibility managing budgets and providing administrative support to the Administrative and CED Cores. The grants administrator must ensure accurate reporting and procedural compliance on grant work. The grants administrator will work under the supervision of the RCMI CED Core Lead and will work closely with the Administrative Core grants administrators and program coordinator, and with the CED Core co- lead. This position is fully funded by external grant funding and is placed in DIST.
Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
  1. Monitor and keep current with university accounting procedures and regulations.
  2. Provide interpretation and application of university and funding agency regulations and grant award terms and conditions.
  3. Work with other University administrators responsible for assigned grants.
  4. Set-up and manage grant budgets, including reconciling budgets with university records.
  5. Implement and monitor systems of checks and balances consistent with university and agency regulations.
  6. Provide monthly grant expenditure reports.
  7. Process PAFs, requisitions, and other financial documents related to assigned projects.
  8. Other related duties and functions as assigned.
R equired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The candidate must possess the following skills and abilities to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations:
  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with a variety of people on varied levels.
  2. Ability to maintain accurate and current accounting records.
  3. Must have a high degree of organizational skills to manage large and growing research programs.
  4. Ability to disseminate information on both a technical and general operational level.
Qualification Standards
  1. Bachelor's degree or higher with experience in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management or Finance.
  2. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage multiple budgets.
  3. Demonstrated ability to create and use Excel spreadsheets to track expenditures.
  4. Knowledge of state and federal agency policies (e.g. NSF, NIH, NASA, USDA).
  5. Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively with the highest degree of accuracy, while working in an environment of fluctuating priorities and frequent interruptions.
  6. Demonstrate a proven track record of successfully working collaboratively with administrators and representatives or external organizations including Federal and agencies.
