JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Summary: Under the direction of the Fabrication Supervisor, the Welding Team Leader has a working knowledge of relevant equipment and is responsible for coordinating materials to be welded into finished products through MIG and TIG welding of mild and stainless steel, stud welding, track welding, metal finishing, using a plasma torch, pouring babbitt bearings, and delivering products to paint, assembly prep, shipping, or assembly. The Welding Team Leader is responsible for ensuring we are fulfilling our commitments of safety, quality, and on time delivery to our customers, both internal and external by working with other Fabrication, Materials, and Assembly team leads to ensure the continuous movement of product as needed. Major Responsibilities: Develops a back-up leader for the welding area to help manage day-to-day activities in the team leader\'s absence. Assists the supervisor in training, kitting and directing a team of welding personnel while also welding parts with a daily direct labor utilization rate of 50% or more. Promotes a Safety-First culture, leading by example and actively participating in safety initiatives. Tracks, monitors, and provides immediate feedback on employee performance. Conducts themselves professionally, with integrity, helping to strengthen working relationships. Responds well to challenges and can adapt to changing priorities. Understands chain of command and escalation procedures. Utilizes proper communication channels. Treats all team members with respect and is willing to facilitate resolution instead of enabling conflict. Performs spot inspections throughout the welding process to ensure product is being welded correctly the first time. If defects are found, ensures Quality is Key (QiK) forms are correctly filled out and root cause identified and corrected. Reviews welding job packets to ensure a safe and logical sequence is directed and followed, and works with appropriate individuals to correct errors via established procedures. Prepares accurate updates for the production schedule and notifies other members of production of any issues and concerns. Updates data on applicable KPI (Key Performance Indicator) metrics for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost (SQDC). Maintains a clean and organized work area in accordance with 6S posted standards. Ensures proper and accurate completion of labor reports, material issues, and material moves. Maintains and orders tooling and supplies for the area. Performs all other duties and responsibilities, as required. Required Education / Experience / Skills: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 2-3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
