Job Requirements / Description

Under the direction of the Director, Research Analysis, the Analyst, Worldwide Research will aggregate, analyze and summarize motion picture, television and online streaming industry data gathered from various sources including MPA member companies, government agencies, research companies and other sources. The analysis will be compiled into reports that are released publicly or internally for executives within the MPA and at its member companies.   

Key Responsibilities  

  • Aggregate, analyze and communicate information and data pertaining to the motion picture, television and online streaming industry, maintaining confidentiality and exercising judgment in communications with member companies and other parties.  Coordinate with others in the organization and outside sources.
  • Proof and assess data for accuracy and trending, for use in key reports, presentations, and online resources.  Follow up with others to resolve discrepancies.        Independently research and analyze outside reports and industry standards for similar data to ensure consistency.        
  • Recommend methods to ensure the highest degree of efficiency and accuracy, including through developing enhanced submission forms, new data collection methods, and identifying new providers as needed.  Provide succinct summaries of data issues for management review, clearly articulating the implications for analysis and reporting and recommending options for improved practice. Assess and drive improvements to data collection methods, while adapting to new organization priorities.  
  • Respond to internal and member company requests for information and data breakouts, using judgment regarding feasibility and timing, as well as discretion in communication.
  • Provide effective communication with employees of MPA, member companies, and other companies related to results and methods, as well as building/maintaining relationships with other industry information providers.
  • Prepare custom research projects as needed. 

Education and Experience Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s degree in an area relevant to analysis and quantitative research, such as economics, business, statistics, or other analytical discipline.
  • Demonstrated data collection skills and experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in research and analysis is preferred, ideally related to financial or employment data.  Experience in analyzing data related to the entertainment industry is a plus. 

Qualifications  

  • Must possess the highest level of work ethic, accuracy and integrity with the ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Knowledge and experience with additional database, statistical and analytical software programs, such as Tableau and SQL, preferred.
  • Familiarity with survey research methods and analysis a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills; Able to prioritize work load and manage multiple priorities in a timely, efficient and productive manner.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate professionally with all levels within an organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to make sound decisions after weighing options and potential risks.
  • Ability to think analytically, innovatively, and independently.
  • Ability to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves.
