SCA case managers help students identify issues and appropriate resources, working collaboratively with the student to empower their development of an action plan.Offered services include, but are not limited to, navigating campus and community resources, referrals to community providers, exploration of or referral for behavioral health concerns, coordination, and follow-up during and after hospitalization and/or medical withdrawal, and help managing multiple or complex needs.CASE MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIESServe as a point of contact and provide consultation for campus community members who are seeking guidance and advice about how to assist students experiencing distress; also communicate possible intervention steps and procedures.Provide assistance, advocacy, and support to students across a broad spectrum of issues and concerns such as complex behavioral and/or psychological challenges, social or adjustment problems, academic-related challenges, and financial issues.Assist students in making use of University and/or community resources and services, including but not limited to emergency medical care, housing, and funding in times of crisis.Communicate with parents/guardians, families, or designated emergency contacts, as appropriate.Follow up with and track students in distress to monitor progress and ensure compliance with recommendations.Complete documentation and maintain records of student cases in the online case management system.Work closely with the Director and other case managers to assist in determining appropriate action to take on referred cases.Assist in reviewing and developing policies, procedures, and training to support successful operations.Assist with assessing outcomes and developing strategies for improving services, programs, facilities, and communication.Assist with outreach and education with appropriate university and off-campus constituents.WHAT WE REQUIREBachelor's Degree required.One year of relevant experience in crisis management.Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations & demonstrated ability in managing difficult and complex situations.Ability to serve on the Student Affairs Administrator on-call rotation, approximately 4 times per semester.Master's Degree preferred in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.WHAT YOU WILL NEEDExcellent written and oral communication skills.Current knowledge of principles/practices in case management.Ability to work cooperatively with others within a multidisciplinary team environment; evidence of effective collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents.Must be a dependable, responsible contributor committed to the University and its students.Demonstrated experience in facilitating training and presentations to students, staff, or faculty.Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple competing priorities; demonstrated compu er proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, database systems, etc.).SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONSTo be fully considered for the position you must submit a current resume and a cover letter that specifically addresses how your background and experience align with the requirements, qualifications, and responsibilities of the position.Benefits for full-time employees at Penn State include (visit for more detailed information):Medical, dental, vision, and retirement plansTuition discounts (including for a spouse and dependent children up to the age of 26)Generous vacation time and sick time16 paid holidays/campus closure daysThis position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work.
