Position Summary

The Plating Technician supports the Plating & Wastewater Pretreatment Systems by monitoring, testing and verifying all systems, performing lab testing as required and maintaining and monitoring all equipment. The technician troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, basic electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, plumbing and other systems are required, and calls for support from the maintenance department as needed. He directs the maintenance associates as to what repairs are needed and learns from maintenance to improve his skill level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensures the proper operation of all plating chemistries by performing chemical analysis and ensuring all meters, pumps and other systems are running correctly and withing specification.
  • Ensures the proper operation of the plating & WWT equipment by monitoring and repairing equipment.
  • Works with the Supervisor/Manager to provide support troubleshooting the chemical processes.
  • Operates the wastewater system on the 3rd shift.
  • Working with the plating supervisor/manager, reviews and monitors quality and process improvements within the chemical processes.
  • Helps with chemical inventory and ordering as required.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Class K License (Wastewater Operator Certification)

Preferred:

  • ISO / TS 16949 Training
  • Knowledge of Safety and IEPA requirements
  • Chemical analysis skills
  • Basic maintenance skills
  • Ability to take seminars / classes to advance skills

  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
  • Ability to continuously stand and move through 12-hour shifts.
  • Perform physical activities that require the use body to lift, walk, climb steps, and handle materials up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Working with the plating team, reviewing quality and process improvements within the chemical process
  • Performs tasks in a variety of maintenance & repair areas, and may be assigned other duties not listed above
