Position Overview: The Paraeducator will work collaboratively with certified special education teachers and clinical staff to support the academic, behavioral, and social development of students in grades 7-12. The individual will provide support via one-on-one and small group instruction, implement specialized teaching strategies, and assist in the creation and adaptation of educational materials to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities. The paraeducator will report to the school principal.

Major Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under the guidance of certified staff
- Provide one-on-one and small group instruction support in academic subjects, including reading, math, and writing
- Support students in developing independent learning skills and self-management strategies
- Assist in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning
- Implement behavior management strategies and techniques to support students with behavioral challenges
- Monitor student behavior and provide feedback to the teacher regarding student progress and needs
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and other school staff to support the overall development and progress of students
- Participate in team meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge
- Utilize assistive technology and adaptive equipment to facilitate student learning and participation in classroom activities
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must have either an Associates Degree or higher or 2 full time years of post secondary education (minimum of 48 credits) or passing score on the ParaPro Exam
- Preference will be given to candidates pursuing or interested in becoming a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
- Consistent attendance is an essential function of this position
- Previous experience working with adolescents with disabilities in a school setting preferred
- Familiarity of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities
- Excellent professionalism and communication skills
- Ability to withstand the physical demands of frequent standing, bending, kneeling and therapeutic holding as required
