Title: Work Planner
Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
Reports to: Foreperson/General Foreperson

Hourly Wage: $33.73-$35.14

Hiring Immediately. $600 Sign-On Bonus Offered

Essential Functions:

1. Obtains oral or written permission/notification from property owner, municipal, business to trim, remove or apply herbicide to trees. Secures appropriate permits when necessary.
2. Arranges with customer or property owner to obtain access and advises of any interruption if applicable. Explains work to be done and sets timelines.
3. Responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of all records and reports related to permission/notification from customer/home owner to General Foreperson and crew personnel.
4. Plans and lays out work for crew members considering factors such as the ability to get power equipment to locations, time required to complete work, clean-up time, equipment available, weather conditions, and special instructions by customers/homeowners.
5. Has an understanding and follows all applicable work methods pertaining to line clearance work.
6. Inspects right of ways to assess vegetation conditions and determine required maintenance.
7. Responds to questions and concerns regarding work specifications and requirements.
8. Inspects work completed by crew/contractors for compliance and utility specifications.
9. Assists in the management of crew/contractors during storm restoration operations.
10. Provides support and assistance on special projects as assigned by the utility.
11. May work on rough terrain due to nature of responsibilities.
12. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Has a minimum of 4 years’ experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews and/or has successfully completed applicable performance reviews.
2. Possesses excellent leadership skills and can handle stressful situations along with being able to multi-task.
3. Has a basic knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits, and correct arboricultural techniques for trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining, and removing, as applies to working in close proximity to energized conductors.
4. Knows and understands the American National Standards for Tree Care Operations (ANSI Z133.1-2000).
5. Has a basic knowledge of electrical circuits and must be skilled in reading and understanding circuit maps.
6. Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, with the general public, customers, and fellow employees.
7. Completes and passes an approved customer relations course and has an understanding of all approved work methods that apply to the position.
8. Must be able to achieve ISA certification within 90 days of employment.
9. Enforces on-the-job safety practices.
10. Must be able to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
11. Needs to be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times per day.
12. Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work tasks such as rain, heat, sun, cold, and snow.
13. Able to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
14. Ability to communicate with others and represent Wright Tree Service in a professional manner.
15. Ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, storm work) and will be subject to call-out work.
16. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
17. Has a valid medical card to drive company vehicles 10,001 lbs. GVWR or GVW and greater.
18. Possess valid First-Aid and CPR cards.
