1. ROLE DETAILS:

The Process Engineer will support in matters concerning material and processing (including manufacturing, testing, verification) related tasks. Ensure that all processes that SAMI or its suppliers use in the fabrication, manufacturing, validation, maintenance, repair and overhaul services are in accordance with the OEM and/or SAMI requirements.
2. ROLE PURPOSE:
The role of the Process Engineer is a generalist position requiring knowledge across multiple fields (e.g. Surface Treatments Plating, Coating, Etching, Painting, Media-Blast Cleaning, Cleaning (water, solvent, chemical based solutions), heat treat, and composite repair).
The position also requires the ability to provide hands-on assistance to HVAC, mechanical and electrical installers/service technicians regarding the process equipment.

Monitor existing customer processes, recommend process improvements, create new processes, implement new and existing processes, and assist in the selection of equipment to support new processes in support of the MRO repair and overhaul activities.

4. Job Tasks
The Process Engineer's Job Tasks include but are not limited to:
1. Analyze related technical publications and manuals (work instructions, Technical Order (T.O.), Depot Maintenance Work Requirement (DMWR), Depot Work Instructions (DWI) etc.) to define and issue the special processes/documentations required to perform MRO and intermediate level maintenance tasks.
2. Analyze, define, report and issue special processes requirements to qualify the MRO or back shops to meet work instructions and technical orders.
3. Complete Facility drawing reviews to ensure compliance to make sure that the materials, processes, and specifications in the work instructions are applicable and compliant to the specified QA norms andAS9110 standards.
4. Make sure that the individual certification requirements related to processes are met completely and will remain active with revision services applicable obtained and implemented.
5. Analyze, report and assist root cause analysis of failures and discrepancies related to the processes of the system parts in fabrication or in repair in accordance with applicable OEM and/or SAMI procedures.
6. Be responsible for issuance, reporting and tracking new processes which will be implemented and ensure existing methods are in compliant with established procedures to insure all processes are operational at Start-up.
7. Take the lead in improving process initiatives/lean projects to maintain technical data pertaining to processes to ensure compliance with OEM and regulatory requirements
8. Prepare and maintain process standard operating procedures (SOPs) for application and process certification.
9. Improve cost effectiveness and robustness of the processes if deemed necessary.
10. Guide and train technicians on process related methods.
11. Analyze and submit technical reports and process documents to verify and assess the requirements and provide solutions on manufacturing, testing, fabrication and engineering activities.
12. Report improvements in manufacturing processes and methods using CAD-CAM techniques.
13. Assist and report in developing and evaluating alternate solutions and recommending the best option in his/her assignments.
14. Provide guidance for designing the floor plans, utilities and special process flows for the MRO sand support services.
15. Monitor and report process specification requirements per applicable documentation.
16. Interact with site engineers, process operators, and support staff (i.e. laboratory, mechanical, instrumentation, etc.)
17. Prepare different technical reports such as, but not limited to, engineering change, technical discrepancy-evaluation reports, corrective action reports, related test reports as directed by the senior manager - technical & engineering services department.
18. Analyze and report the technical risks and provide with mitigation plans feasible and applicable
19. Support the programs group as appropriate and as deemed necessary.
20. Complete Facility drawing reviews to ensure compliance with customer and architect requirements.
21. Any other responsibilities given by the direct manager.
5. Key Performance Indicators (kpis):
KPIs shall be according to the Client's policy and procedures and other company requirements. It shall cover but not limited to the following areas: engineering, process, operations, scope, troubleshooting, repair, schedule, quality, cost, etc.
6. work experience:

  • Knowledge of special processes such as NDT, adhesive bonding, plating, heat treatment, chemical cleaning, boring, broaching, brazing, etc
  • 3-5 years experience in the manufacturing for the aviation industry
  • Ability to conduct technical discussions on the process engineering with customers, OEMs and suppliers
  • Must have experience with CAD, spreadsheets and data processing software.
  • Must have extensive knowledge and experience of Aerospace MRO processes.
  • Professional certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) will be an added advantage.
  • Working experience in the Engineering department as a Process Engineer, or a similar position.
  • Excellent knowledge of project management principles.
  • Working knowledge of part repair schemes and processes.
  • Good communication and time management skills.
  • Exceptional ability to work for long periods.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of construction principles and building processes.
  • Understanding of building regulations and health and safety.
8. Educational qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in an Industrial or Mechanical engineering discipline or a related degree from a recognized university or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years' experience in the aviation overhaul and repair industry.
  • Certificate of Computer Aided Design (CAD), spreadsheets and data processing software preferred (e.g. AutoCAD, 3D Modeling, MS Excel, MS Word, etc.).
9. Knowledge and skills:
  • Full knowledge on process engineering and application requirements
  • Good knowledge of military and industrial standards.
  • Good knowledge of software program control and planning/manufacturing tooling is are required.
  • Knowledge of Mission, armament and support systems requirements will be an asset.
  • Good knowledge on airworthiness, weight, certification, reliability and maintainability aspects is desired.
  • Very good communication skills.
  • Strong attention to details and follow-through skills.
  • Very good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand, track, drill-down the issues in all functional areas and make sound technical and operational decisions
10. position compentency required:
  • Full competency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

  • Full competency in Computer Aided Design software (CAD).
