Players Way Internship
Position Overview:
We seek a dynamic and motivated business strategy intern to join our team. As a business strategy intern, you will be able to work on impactful projects and gain hands-on experience in the sports industry for up to six months. More specifically, this position will focus on financial modeling and business planning as it relates to the MLBPA's youth sports initiative, with a special emphasis on the youth baseball and softball industries.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Collaborate with stakeholders and advisors to develop and execute a marketing strategy and business plans.
• Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends and opportunities in youth baseball/softball/sports space.
• Collaborate with the stakeholders to define and create a way to market the business plan.
• Assist in the creation of marketing materials and content.
• Assist in the production and refinement of financial modeling of the proposed business(es), which will be an important part of planning and attracting potential outside capital partners.
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a master's program or a recent graduate student in business administration, marketing, or finance.
• General familiarity with baseball and/or softball and a basic understanding of youth sports
• Must know how to put together business plans, with an idea as it relates to a sports-related and/or start-up company.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well in a team and independently.
Reports to: Senior Director, Operations, Business & Strategy
Location: This work can be completed remotely, but students may have the option to visit either the MLBPA's New York, NY, or Scottsdale, AZ offices to facilitate in-person collaboration with staff as approved and appropriate.
Salary: $30.00 per hour
Internship Length: Some flexibility to work with a student's schedule, but ideally between 3 and 6 months
Expected Hours Per Week: Some flexibility, but generally 10-20 hours during the academic year, and up to 30 for students who have the ability to commit the time and bandwidth
