Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Conducts research and carries out quantitative and qualitative analysis and develops written reports of findings for fire/EMS consulting studies.
  2. Uses knowledge of current fire and EMS industry best practices, standards, and regulations to inform development of findings and recommendations.
  3. Presents findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  4. Manages project tasks, deliverables, and timelines. Communicates any issues to project managers and recommends solutions.
  5. Hosts client and team meetings via online platforms, including stakeholder interviews.
  6. Leads and participates in client on-site visits.
  7. Prepares a wide range of written materials for client management, business development, and marketing including presentations, responses to requests for proposals, quotes, blog posts, and sales initiatives.
  8. Contributes to business development efforts through relationship management, participation in industry associations, attendance and conference presentations, and identifying new market opportunities to expand services within the public safety industry.
  9. Provides administrative and technical support.
  10. Assembles and coordinates project staff, manages resource allocation.
  11. Provides direction and support to project team.
  12. Responsible for quality assurance.
  13. Constantly monitors and reports on progress of the project to all stakeholders.
  14. Presents reports defining project progress, problems, and solutions.
  15. Implements and manages project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
  16. Responsible for project evaluations and assessment of results.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  2. 15+ years of fire service and/or EMS industry full-time experience, with at least 5 years direct or commensurate management-level experience within fire departments and/or EMS agencies at the chief officer or manager/director level.
  3. Proven experience with people management, strategic planning, risk management, and change management.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of fire service and EMS industry operations including applicable standards and best practices.
  5. Experience conducting data analysis to understand agency operations, and writing technical reports to identify findings and recommendations to help improve operations and service delivery for public safety organizations.
  6. Experience with development of innovative fire/EMS delivery programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Proven experience in a Fire/EMS consulting role that involves leading projects and developing final reports.
  2. Participation with fire/EMS organizations or associations at the local, state or national level.

Certifications

  • Current or previous fire/EMS credentials (i.e., paramedic, fire officer, emergency management).

Working Conditions

  • Remote work, up to 25% travel for client on-site visits, conferences, and meetings.

Compensation:

As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $80,000 to $125,000. Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.
