Department Summary

The Technology Operations team oversees the design, development, implementation, maintenance, enhancement, and operations of IT platforms, systems, and applications in service of administrative units. The team also monitors the effectiveness and service delivery standards of these technologies to ensure business outcomes are met through innovative technologies. Additionally, the team focuses on process improvement and service excellence to key campus customers. The Housing & Hospitality IT Products team oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a suite of products essential for activities such as building operations/maintenance, dining services, and special events. The team stays up to date on emerging technologies and industry best practices, recommending improvements to campus operations.


Position Summary

The Business Systems Analyst, Hospitality IT Products will support the Hospitality IT Products team by enabling operations and service fulfillment to administrative IT customers. The Business Systems Analyst will conduct customer research and collaborate with key stakeholders across UCLA to gather business requirements and help translate them into functional and technical requirements to be utilized across the Hospitality IT Products team. They will conduct analyses, create process models, document requirements, and work to ensure that the solutions developed meet the desired business outcomes. Through the use of various analytical tools and methodologies, they will identify trends and opportunities that can drive innovation and efficiency in UCLA's technological offerings. In addition, they will contribute to the strategic planning process by providing insights and data-driven recommendations to help shape the university's IT roadmap.

This role will also support the product team's delivery and sustainment of an excellent end-to-end customer experience. The Business Systems Analyst, Hospitality IT Products will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling IT platforms, systems, and applications in service of the institution's academic, research and service mission. This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.


Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

  1. Three years experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, computer science, management, or a related field. (Required)
  2. Three years experience working in one or more of the following fields: higher education, higher education auxiliary services, hospitality services, or a related field. (Required)
  3. Experience designing and documenting business processes and configuring application functions. Understanding of Lean and Agile methodologies. (Required)
  4. Experience conducting or facilitating requirement gathering interviews or sessions. Experience utilizing analytics tools to measure success, present opportunities, and support decision-making. (Required)
  5. Five or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, computer science, management, higher education, higher education auxiliary services, hospitality services. (Preferred)
  6. Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred)
  7. Demonstrated ability to identify key issues critical to the organization's need and the success of a desired product, service and enhancement. (Required)
  8. Proven record of delivering end-to-end, user-centered products by considering stakeholder requirements, user research, market analysis, data, customer feedback, and technical constraints or opportunities. (Required)
  9. Strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate technical information and ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders. (Required)
  10. Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members, stakeholders, and customers. (Required)
  11. Strong organizational skills and is able to balance competing priorities and support concurrent projects. Ability to work in a project-based environment using project management practices. (Required)
  12. Strong demonstrated problem-solving skills; scopes solutions based on knowledge of available resources and timelines. Able to ask questions, gather information, evaluate options, and make decisions with integrity. (Required)
  13. Able to participate in activities to advance an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (Required)
  14. Thinks creatively and proposes innovative ideas, including the incorporation of new technologies or processes. Is able to work with agility in a fast-paced environment. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  1. Bachelor's Degree in one or more of the following fields: information technology, computer science, public administration, business administration, communications or a related field, or equivalent experience/training. (Required)
  2. PMP Certification Within the last 4 years (Preferred)
  3. Lean Six Sigma (Preferred)
  4. Scrum (Preferred)

Special Conditions for Employment

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel/lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement).
