Job Description

Reporting to the VP of Information Services, the BI Architect plays a crucial role in developing and supporting data management systems, including integration with Access Information Management System (AIMS) and other clinical/financial systems. The BI Architect is responsible for directly supporting the daily administration of the Business Intelligence solutions, developing advanced administration, and reporting management tools, and guiding the aggressive expansion of our complex Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse (BI/DW) environment. They prioritize data quality through governance measures, ensuring that the information is reliable and accurate. The BI Architect collaborates with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement BI reports and dashboards, utilizing underlying data sources to meet business needs. They are also responsible for the technical design, development, documentation, testing, implementation, and support of various data models, ensuring seamless operations.

Essential Job Functions: This role requires a self-motivated, detail oriented, positive, collaborative, and organized individual with the ability to maintain flexibility and take ownership of projects and processes. Must be a problem solver and address issues in a timely manner. Additionally:

  • Develop, design, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models.

  • Develop and implement stored procedures.

  • Develop, maintain, and administer complex ETL processes within the Azure SQL database environment utilizing SSIS.

  • Develop, troubleshoot, and fine tune existing and new reports.

  • Facilitate the development of data integration efforts.

  • Develop, manage, and maintain data models, including physical and logical models of the data warehouse, data marts, development and staging areas and source systems as necessary to meet new and changing business requirements.

  • Perform database administration tasks, including application performance tuning, workload management, disaster recovery strategies, and application architecture enhancements.

  • Proactively monitor and report on system performance key performance indicators (KPIs), providing visibility into resource utilization for different workloads, such as ETL and BI tools.

  • Execute database development tasks, such as loading/unloading data, managing external tables, optimizing table distribution, identifying, and resolving data skew issues, and optimizing query plans for improved performance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and build solutions.

  • Develop and implement best practices for data visualization and report design.

  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in Power BI, data warehouse, and related technologies.

  • Travel may be required to support company locations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ related experience working with healthcare business analytics.

  • At least 8 years of experience in developing and implementing Power BI solutions.

  • At least 5 years of experience in Azure Analysis Services.

  • At least 5 years of experience in advanced SQL queries.

  • At least 4 years of experience in stored procedures.

  • Experience in creation and management of data warehouse API integrations.

  • Experience in designing and developing data visualizations using Power BI.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of DAX, M, and Power Query is a plus.
