To address the growing demands within the Department of Defense, SAIC is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Senior Applied AI Scientist to join our Digital and AI Team as we embark on a large initiative to lead the design, integrate, and operate innovative, responsible, and cost-effective solutions that deliver data-driven decision advantage and enable Joint All-Domain Command and Control across the Department, Services, and Combatant Commands.

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Scientist who combines superb technical, research, analytical and leadership capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. This person must be comfortable working with a highly multidisciplinary team of subject matter experts and developers and collaborating with other teams across the SAIC enterprise. You will be expected to have an established background in system design, building highly scalable systems in production, great communication skills. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex, user-centric problems in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building trusted compound AI solutions that achieve mission critical operational goals.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Innovate and enhance CJADC2 systems, including operational analysis and design proposal.
  2. Oversee the development of emerging technology pipelines aligned with strategic growth.
  3. Lead proposal efforts, creating AI/ML solutions within the CDAO's fast-paced environment.
  4. Cultivate relationships with stakeholders, addressing their specific challenges and barriers.
  5. Guarantee ethical, transparent, and compliant AI solutions in accordance with legal standards.
  6. Remain abreast of AI/ML technological trends and competitive insights.
  7. Mentor and lead a team of engineers and developers, ensuring the delivery of quality AI/ML solutions.
  8. Collaborate with SAIC's technological leaders to apply AI/ML insights to DoD challenges.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Possess a minimum of an active Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  2. Bachelors and a minimum of five years of experience with full lifecycle and secure and automated development of at least one of the following: data management, data analytics or Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML); Master's and 3+ years.
  3. Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master's or doctoral degree in a related technical discipline.
  2. Possess an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  3. Possess experience with data visualization packages in Python or similar programming languages.
  4. Possess experience with supervised and unsupervised deep learning algorithms like Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) and advanced deep learning packages such as TensorFlow, Keras, Pytorch, Caffe, and Theano.
  5. Possess experience with one of the large cloud-computing infrastructure solutions similar to AWS, MS Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment.
  6. Possess experience utilizing Agile development methodologies and Application Lifecycle Management.
  7. Possess experience working with programming languages such as Java, C++, JSON, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby, Pig/Hive, and/or Elixir.
  8. Strong publication record.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
