Position Summary: Tesla Government Inc. is seeking a talented and experienced Web GIS expert to help us administer, troubleshoot, deploy, and organize web applications and GIS solutions in a custom software environment. Our GIS team consists of individuals who are talented at finding solutions to unique problems, who can work independently as well as in a team, who are skilled in multiple areas of geography, cartography, and automation, and who enjoy tackling different challenges every day. We are looking for an adaptive, fast-learning, multifaceted, and enthusiastic individual who can bring their skills and dedication to round out and expand this team.

Periodic in-office work may be expected, but the majority of your time will be remote. Physical office space is in the Falls Church area, Metro accessible on the Orange Line (East Falls Church Metro).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate and coordinate with a diverse team of GIS Analysts, content specialists, and developers to find solutions for integrating, maintaining, and deploying client-facing GIS products.
  • Develop customized applications and geospatial products to increase productivity, generate reports, and improve contextual understanding of complex problem sets.
  • Locate, acquire, store, organize, analyze, maintain, and display geospatial and non-geospatial information.
  • Provide advanced technical support to GIS, support teams, and clients.
  • Develop, deploy, administer, and maintain web-based GIS applications and solutions.
  • Support training and skills transfer for other members of the GIS Team.
  • Research and identify open source and commercial resources to augment and improve GIS offerings.
  • Apply intelligent troubleshooting methods to quickly recognize and capture technical problems and to provide timely solutions.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of education and work history in GIS.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer science, GIS, geography, or a related field.
  • Proven experience designing, developing, managing, and maintaining web mapping applications using ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9+.
  • Proficiency with GIS desktop software (ArcGIS Pro 3.1+) and data management.
  • Experience managing and working with large data sets.
  • Knowledge and experience with markup languages, scripting (particularly Python and JavaScript), and the ability to effectively exploit and configure software.
  • Ability to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Established troubleshooting skills and patience when facing complex problems with imminent deadlines.
  • Proven experience working in a virtualized Windows Enterprise 11 environment.
  • Experience working with infrastructure datasets and models.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to review large volumes of data and products and make sense of them.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • U.S citizen, eligible for a government security clearance (No clearance needed to start).

Salary Range: The wage range for this role takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Tesla, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $55-60k.
