Job Requirements / Description

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Transports students to and from off-center appointments.
• Checks the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
• Reports any bus malfunctions or needed repairs.
• Complies with traffic regulations.
• Prepares and submits reports that may include the number of passengers or trips, hours worked, mileage, and/or fuel consumption.
• Ensures the physical security of buildings and property.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
• Working knowledge of basic vehicle operation
• Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle safety practices, inspection and maintenance
• Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations
• Strong attention to detail
• Good decision making skills
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to relate to students
• Proficient in the use of computer software such as MSWord, Excel and Outlook, etc.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• High school graduate or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
• One year experience in driving passenger vehicles.
OTHER:
• Must possess or obtain a valid Commercial Driver's license with an acceptable driving record

• Retrieving and storing files and supplies; occasionally carrying and/or lifting light objects
WORKING CONDITIONS:

• May be subject to irregular work schedules
• Driving a vehicle (bus, van, auto) in variable traffic and weather conditions
• Patrols assigned areas and remain alert for disturbances, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts and/or persons, and other unusual conditions.
• Enforces all authorized laws, rules and regulations.
• Performs building security and safety checks.
• Assists staff in quelling disturbances.
• Receives complaints and makes appropriate preliminary investigations.
• Ensures the physical security of buildings and property.
• Performs parking and traffic control duties.
• Enforces center pass policy.
• Provides escort service as directed.
