Job Requirements / Description

A privately held company that is the 9th largest landowner in the United States and the largest private landowner in Wyoming. They own approximately 900,000 acres of land and approximately 4.5 million acres of mineral rights stretching from the Nebraska border to Salt Lake City. The company generates substantial income from its vast holdings from numerous sources including mining, oil & gas, renewable energy, ranching, right of ways, and other uses of its land and mineral estates. They are seeking someone with strong GIS and financial modelling skills to help manage its vast and varied holdings.

Essential Job Functions

  • Create all required mapping for the company as the in-house GIS Analyst.
  • Assist in the tracking, monitoring, and forecasting of existing and new developments on their land and mineral estates.
  • Assist in the evaluation of new business opportunities.
  • Work with the executive and financial teams on financial modelling and forecasting.
  • Handle highly confidential information requiring considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion, and judgement.

Must Haves

  • 3 - 8 years of GIS experience coming out of the Natural Resource Industry
  • Experience with GIS software
  • Ability to own all business interests, be the cornerstone of all base GIS data, and develop, maintain, update, and reproduce for deals and managing up to stakeholders.

Desired Skills and Experience

*Bachelor's degree in geography or related discipline required.
*3+ years of GIS work experience in the natural resources industry.
*High proficiency with standard GIS software including ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Google Maps.
*Ability to take GIS data and develop, maintain, update, and reproduce data for managing the business and evaluating new business opportunities.
*Demonstrated understanding of projections, datums, land survey systems, cartographic design; Artistic aptitude and aesthetic sense required.
*General understanding of ArcGIS from an IT context (for example: hardware, storage, security, networking, web services, virtualization, and cloud computing).
*Excellent research, organizational, and communication skills.
*Capability to work on numerous diverse workstreams simultaneously.
*Ability to do financial modelling.
