Position Overview:

The Store Leader/Store Leader 2 is responsible for all facets of store operations (at two store locations for SL2) and directly influences the performance of everyone who interacts with guests. Using elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, the Circle of Life, the Store Leader develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest, and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and lead in a multiunit capacity, multitasking and directing a larger team across two store locations.
  • Model best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly; respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously; assist guests with their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items; apply selling behaviors during every transaction; prioritize guests over tasks.
  • Support the shopping environment, including visual and operational elements and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the Point‐of‐Sale (POS) system, ensuring top-notch guest service.
  • Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate customer issues to the Store Leader when appropriate.
  • Promote GameStop’s unique guest benefits, such as the new title reservations program and Pro Rewards guest loyalty program.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, assess, develop, and retain high-performing associates.
  • Ensure associates complete onboarding and training before opening or closing a shift independently.
  • Communicate regularly with store associates and the District Manager to implement store initiatives according to plan.
  • Schedule store associates, ensuring guidelines are followed and breaks are accounted for.
  • Approve payroll and verify that associates are paid for all time worked.
  • Provide timely recognition and feedback to store associates regarding performance.
  • Ensure all areas of the store are neat, clean, organized, and merchandised per company guidelines.
  • Fulfill and ship Omni-Channel orders daily.
  • Perform store inventory counts and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor.
  • Protect company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices.
  • Lead store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals, completing necessary administrative and operational duties.
  • Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals accurately in the POS system.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies/shortages and communicate any issues to the District Leader.
  • Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; report any injuries promptly.
  • Maintain store records/files in an organized manner.
  • Form professional partnerships with military personnel on assigned military base (if applicable).
  • Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including respectful workplace and ethical responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must present proof of ability to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of retail management experience required.
  • At least 3 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management/leadership experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.

  • Lift merchandise weighing up to 30 lbs. and perform basic motor skills.
  • Possess or acquire an understanding of military ranks and insignia (if applicable).
